Authorities and search teams continue to search for 13-year-old Liam Hathcock, who was last seen Tuesday afternoon in the Friendship community near Tallassee.

According to Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin, Liam was last seen around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday after leaving his home. Deputies and search personnel have been searching a wooded area near the residence where children are known to frequently play.

Sheriff Franklin told EA News Wednesday morning that authorities currently have no reason to believe Liam is in danger. However, the search remains active as officials work to determine his whereabouts.

Family members describe Liam as approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing about 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing khaki cargo pants and a gray short-sleeve shirt.

Search efforts continued through the night Tuesday and into Wednesday with assistance from multiple agencies and volunteers. Family members have expressed appreciation for the support shown by the community while asking the public to follow guidance from search officials.

Earlier search operations included K-9 teams and thermal drones. Officials have advised that excessive foot traffic in search areas can interfere with scent-tracking efforts, and community members are encouraged to coordinate through the established command post rather than conducting independent searches.

A recently released image believed to show Liam shortly before he went missing has been shared in hopes that someone may recognize him or recall seeing him.

Anyone who has seen Liam or has information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office or call 911 immediately.

Elmore Autauga News will continue to share verified updates as they become available in an effort to assist search efforts and help bring Liam home safely.
