PCA volleyball wins Class 4A Area 5 Tournament

On Wednesday night, the Prattville Christian Academy Volleyball team won the area championship for the 4th year in a row. The Panthers defeated Booker T. Washington in the Class 4A Area 5 semi-final (25-1, 25-2, 25-3) and LAMP in the area championship (25-8, 25-11, 25-8). The Panthers, who won the 2024 Class 4A state championship, were ranked #1 in Class 4A in the final regular season poll prior to the start of the post-season. 

“I’m really proud of how the girls competed today in the Area Tournament,” said PCA Volleyball Head Coach Kaylon Cantrell. “Our focus heading into regionals is identifying and putting into practice the daily habits and efforts that will set us apart from the competition. We’re excited for the opportunities ahead of us, but we don’t want to take anything for granted. We want to continue to get better every day!” 

PCA’s Baylee Rogers was named the Most Valuable Player of the Area Tournament. Maren Diefenderfer and Leah Cate Wilson were named to the All Tournament Team. 

Baylee Rogers had 41 assists, 2 kills, 21 aces, 1 block and 3 digs.

Maren Diefenderfer had 12 kills, 11 aces, 2 blocks, and 1 dig.

Leah Cate Wilson had 14 kills and 6 aces.

Anniston Robison had 9 kills, 2 aces, 

Olivia Rossi had 8 kills and 1 dig.

Morgan Fowler had 6 aces and 18 digs. 

Aiden Williams had 2 aces and 6 digs. 

Marion Lewis had 1 kill, 3 blocks, and 4 digs.

Kenadie Minor had 3 digs.

Haven Harrell had 3 aces. 

Kandice Crosby had 3 digs.

Christiana Franklin had 1 kill.

Elle Maddox had 1 kill and 1 dig.

Copeland Miller had 6 aces.

Sara Grace Smith had 1 kill.

During the semi-final contest against Booker T. Washington, PCA’s Leah Cate Wilson became just the 3rd ever PCA Volleyball player to surpass 1,000 kills. 

The Panthers record improved to 32-11. They will play nextThursday at the Regional held at the Sportsplex at Cramton Bowl.
