The Town of Elmore hosted a groundbreaking ceremony, sponsored by the Central Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission, Oct. 17, 2025, for its new community center at 102 Wilson Street.

“This community center is going to be an asset to our residents,” said Chris Sission, Elmore Town Councilor. “We are hoping to get the senior program up and running again, and this is going to be a great building to do our Halloween and Christmas events for the children.”

Elmore Community Center will be open to the public, serving all the town’s residents and catering to a variety of needs and ages. It will be the cornerstone of connection for the community, providing fellowship opportunities through shared meals, educational programming, special events, and meeting space for various community groups, businesses, and churches.

“It’s a great day in the Town of Elmore,” said Bart Mercer, Chairman of the Elmore County Commission. “Congratulations to Mayor White and the council for the great job they’ve done getting this building started.”

The community center, situated next to a large pond, will also foster an environment for further growth and development, acting as the official “Welcome Wagon” for new town residents and businesses.

“I appreciate everyone coming,” said Margaret White, Mayor of Elmore. “I look forward to being the first one to sit on that new porch overlooking the water.”
