On Friday, Scott Tubbs resigned as Head Baseball Coach at Holtville. Tubbs was at Holtville for five years. He led the Bulldogs to area championships in four of those five years. In 2023, Tubbs led the Bulldogs to the Class 5A state championship and was also named the Class 5A Coach of the Year by the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association. The Bulldogs were Class 5A Runner Up in 2022, and made the Class 5A Quarterfinals in 2021 and 2024.

During Tubbs’ tenure running the program, several Holtville players have gone on to compete in college. The Holtville alumni page shows since 2022, 9 players have gone on to play in college. In 2022, Todd Wilson and Garrett Ingram signed with Southern Union. In 2023, Sam Silas signed with Jacksonville State and Weston Tubbs signed with Central Alabama Community College. In 2024, Hudson Parson, AJ Carreron, and Drew Conner signed with Reid State, while Drey Barrett signed with Southern Mississippi. And this past season, Carson McCutchin signed with Reid State.

Holtville Principal Sean Kreauter released a statement. “Holtville High School would like to thank Coach Tubbs for his time, dedication, and commitment to our baseball program. After much thought and prayer, Coach Tubbs has made the decision to step down from his coaching role in order to focus more on his family. Earlier today at 2:00 p.m., Coach Tubbs met with his players to personally share the news with them. This decision will allow him the opportunity to spend more time being a husband and parent, including traveling to watch his son play college baseball – something that means a great deal to him and his family.”

Tubbs’ son, Weston, was on the 2023 state championship team at Holtville, and played the last two seasons at Central Alabama Community College. But in 2026, the younger Tubbs will play a few hours away at the University of Mobile.
