The Elmore County Family Resource Center opened its doors and its heart on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, hosting a Thanksgiving blessing for the entire community. With the support of generous community partners, the center provided families with a hot Thanksgiving meal for each member of their household, a plate filled not only with food but with care. The center also had a prayer room if families needed prayers as well.

“This truly is the best time of the year, and the Elmore County Family Resource Center has done so much for the citizens of our community! Being able to come out and support their Thanksgiving meal event was a wonderful opportunity and a meaningful way to give back,” said Elmore County Commissioner Desirae Lewis.

More than 200 Thanksgiving To-Go Baskets, packed with nonperishable items, were shared with families as they picked up their meals, offering a little extra help for Thanksgiving. This event was completely free, and each contribution made this Thanksgiving a little brighter for families across Elmore County.

“This was such a great day to be out here at the Elmore County Family Resource Center with all the volunteers who showed up from all types of different agencies and gave back to those who need it the most. I am happy to be able to serve the citizens,” said Elmore County District Judge Ben Baxley.

At the Elmore County Family Resource Center, they believe strong families build strong communities.

“We want to give a big shout-out to our amazing staff, our board of directors, and the numerous community partners who donated food and volunteered their time to come out and give back to families in need. We want to thank our community for coming to receive a blessing today as well,” said Chrissy Boshell, Executive Director of Elmore County Family Resource Center.
