The Honorable Ben Baxley, Presiding Judge of the Elmore County Juvenile Court, is pleased to announce the appointment and formal swearing in of Ms. Carter Scales Taunton as a Juvenile Probation Officer for Elmore County. The oath of office was administered by Judge Baxley during a ceremony held at the Elmore County Courthouse on November 17, 2025.
In her capacity as Juvenile Probation Officer, Ms. Taunton will serve under the direction of the Juvenile Court, working to promote accountability, rehabilitation, and the welfare of youth under the court’s jurisdiction. Her duties will include case management, supervision of juveniles, and coordination of rehabilitative services in collaboration with schools, law enforcement, and community partners. She joins a seasoned staff of juvenile probation officers, including Chief JPO Delane Goggans, JPO Tim Wheeler, and JPO John Findley.
Judge Baxley expressed confidence in Ms. Taunton’s qualifications and commitment to public service, noting the importance of her role in the administration of juvenile justice. “The appointment of Ms. Taunton reflects this Court’s continuing commitment to ensuring that the young people of Elmore County receive both firm accountability and meaningful opportunities for growth and reform,” Judge Baxley stated. “Her professionalism, integrity, and dedication to the mission of the juvenile justice system will serve this community well.”
Ms. Taunton expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to serve in this capacity, stating her intent to uphold the standards and values of the Juvenile Court.
“It is an honor to join the Elmore County Juvenile Court in its work with youth and families,” Mrs. Taunton said. “I look forward to serving the citizens of Elmore County and contributing to the Court’s mission of guiding young people toward positive and productive futures.”
