Millbrook Police Department
On Monday November 10, 2025, Millbrook police conducted a traffic stop on Highway 14, near I-65. While interviewing the driver, the investigating officer detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle, also observing furtive movements from multiple occupants inside the vehicle. Once assisting officers arrived on scene, officers began removing the driver and passengers from inside of the vehicle. While conducting a pat-down of one of the individual’s person for officer safety, officers located material believed to be narcotics, as well as a loaded pistol magazine. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, producing a total of (4) semi-automatic pistols, as well as an amount of marijuana, various narcotics, to include Xanax, Oxycodone and Codeine, as well as other prescription medications. One of the weapons appeared to have been modified with a part that potentially converted the pistol into a fully automatic firearm, or “Glock Switch”.

This is an example of outstanding police work on the part of our patrol officers, as well as a demonstration that there is absolutely no such thing as a “routine traffic stop.” This officer stopped the alleged offender for a traffic violation. During his initial contact with the driver, he detected an odor of what he believed to be marijuana, also observing unnecessary/suspicious movement inside the vehicle, among its passengers. Due to multiple occupants, the officer correctly made the decision to call for assistance before proceeding with his investigation, which turned out be a very wise decision on his part, when considering the outcome of this stop, with multiple weapons being seized and the location of narcotic and prescription medication. This situation could have gone in the wrong direction quickly, had the initial officer not utilized his training, patience and good judgement.
I am extremely proud to work alongside our officers, who work diligently not only to serve and protect our citizens and their property, but they work very hard each day to discourage this type of activity/behavior in our city as well. We encourage our officers to be proactive during their patrols, addressing violations, being both attentive and intentional while doing so. This often leads to the discovery of other criminal activity, such as evidenced in this case. Due to this officer’s diligence, we were able to remove dangerous narcotics, illegal prescription drugs and weapons from our streets, all of which makes our city safer.
