From: CJ Robinson, District Attorney
19th Judicial Circuit
District Attorney CJ Robinson has served victims, law enforcement, and citizens of
Autauga, Chilton, and Elmore Counties for over 18 years, both as a career prosecutor
and now as the Chief Law Enforcement Official for the 19th Circuit. In addition to
trying every type of case in the criminal justice system, and graduating at the top of
his class from the Montgomery Police Academy, Robinson has attended numerous
parole hearings, observed an execution in a case he prosecuted, created a
restitution recovery division, helped develop the first multi-county Helping Families
Initiative, worked to establish Drug and Veteran’s Court Programs, completed SWAT
training and drafted multiple bills, he then worked to have passed by the Alabama
legislature. Robinson was the 2015 Assistant District Attorney of the Year
(presented by the Alabama District Attorneys Association) and the 2020 recipient of
the Miriam Shehane Award for his outstanding advocacy for Alabama crime victims
(presented by V.O.C.A.L. – Victims of Crime and Leniency).
Robinson won the Republican Nomination for the 19th Circuit District Attorney in
May 2022. He was appointed as District Attorney in 2022, and was elected to the
Alabama District Attorneys Association Executive Committee in 2025. In his role on
the ADAA Executive Committee, CJ now serves as Alabama’s appointed
representative to the National District Attorneys Association.
When asked about the position, Executive Director Trisha Mellberg Cater of the
Alabama District Attorneys Association, said, “District Attorney Robinson brings a
deep understanding of the challenges and responsibilities faced by prosecutors
across our state. His experience and commitment to justice will serve Alabama well
as he represents our interests and perspectives within the National District
Attorneys Association.”
Retired ADAA Executive Director Barry Matson shared, “Alabama can be proud that
CJ is the new representative to the National District Attorney’s Association (NDAA).
Chosen by all the district attorneys across the State, CJ will advocate for important
justice and policy matters in the halls of Congress and the corridors of public
opinion. I’m proud of CJ, because I know his heart and I trust him to do the right
thing for the right reasons and so can Alabama.”
The National District Attorneys Association is the largest association of prosecutors
in the country and works to advance prosecutor priorities on critical issues. NDAA
serves as a nationwide, interdisciplinary resource center for research, training,
knowledge building, and accountability. NDAA’s mission is to promote a criminal
justice system that is fair, effective and accountable while supporting prosecutors
in their efforts of ensuring that justice is administered for those who violate the law.
District Attorney CJ Robinson said, “I have worked tirelessly to ensure the people of
the 19th Circuit have a District Attorney who will always search for the truth, be a
voice for victims, and pursue justice above all else, and I am proud to represent
Alabama and be the voice for our great state at the national level.”
