Tallassee’s Trade Day to be on King Street, includes BBQ Cookoff

From Carmen Rodgers

Tallassee’s much-loved Trade Day is making its return to King Street, Oct. 18, 2025, after several years at other venues. The Tallassee Area Chamber of Commerce is bringing Trade Day back to its roots—by bringing it back to King Street this year.

We’re excited to restore that classic Trade Day atmosphere and welcome both longtime participants and new vendors.

First launched in the late 1980’s, Trade Day has grown into one of Tallassee’s signature events, drawing crowds from miles around for a day filled with shopping, food, and family fun. For decades, the event was held on King Street near Tallassee High School, creating long-lasting memories of tradition that locals still talk about today.

Everyone that I have talked with has said they are looking forward to Trade Day coming back to King Street. As a child, I went to Trade Day with my grandmother every year back when it was on King Street.

Many people who grew up in Tallassee have those same cherished memories. It’s nostalgic, and that is something people everywhere are looking for—that nostalgic feeling. That’s what we are trying to capture.

And the background is nice too.

We talked about taking Trade Day back to its roots, well, the old trees that line King Street are just beautiful and offer a nice backdrop for a fall day. They will also give us some shade and, perhaps, a cool breeze.

New to Trade Day, this year will incorporate a BBQ Cookoff. Grill masters will go head-to-head in four categories: Ribs, Butts, Chicken, and Camp Stew.

Because it takes hours to cook BBQ, our competitors will start cooking Friday night near the green space in downtown Tallassee. We will bring in some live entertainment that evening. It will be a good time.

Both vendors and grill masters can register online at tallasseechamber.com.

Spots are limited, and early registration is encouraged. Sign up today to showcase your business or craft to one of the largest annual crowds in the Tallassee community.

Whether you’re a vendor or a grill master, reserve your spot today and be part of Tallassee’s longstanding fall tradition.
