There is still time to purchase your ducks for the West Elmore Area Lions Club Duck Race which will kick off today at 5:30 p.m. at Village Green Park in Millbrook.

If you come early to the park, you can still purchase ducks for $10 a piece, according to John Collier.

The ducks will be dumped into the water at the northern pedestrian bridge in the park, and the race will end at the southern pedestrian bridge.

“It is going to be a quick race, but it will be a lot of fun,” Collier said.

In test runs, the race lasted about five minutes for the first duck to cross the finish line. For the best viewing, crowds can line up on either side of Mill Creek within the park or behind Kid’s Kingdom playground.

“We are going to have some door prizes right at 5:30 p.m., and immediately after the race will begin,” Collier said.

The Duck sale has been very successful, he said. “Originally we planned to sell about 100 ducks, but so far we have sold 253.” But remember, if you get there early, ducks will be for sale up until race time with cash or check.

After the race, stick around for the final Tunes on the Green Concert at the Park. There will be a kid’s zone, plenty of fans courtesy of Cloverdale Jewelers, a stage in the shade, food trucks and more. The concert kicks off at 6:30 p.m. and will wrap up a very successful Tunes season for Millbrook.

The theme for today’s concert is TBT or Throwback Thursday. Entertainment is from H2O, with food trucks from Fire Meats Wood and Kingdom Dough. There will be FREE Kettle Popcorn (while it lasts) courtesy of the city.
