Prattville’s Lanieya Page is one of just 32 female high school athletes in the country who will participate in the NFL’s Girls Flag Football High School Showcase. It is only the second year of the showcase event, and Page is one of only two girls selected from the State of Alabama.
“It feels like a fever dream,” said Page. “I feel nothing but blessed to be able to go out and show all the hard work I have put in to be able to get here at this point in my life.”
Page will receive an all-expenses paid trip to San Francisco as part of the Pro Bowl festivities in February, leading up to the Super Bowl.
“In San Francisco, I’m looking forward to getting better as a person but also better as a player. I want to be able to reach my full potential, and I also plan on making connections. I have met some of my teammates and have looked into many of the different talents/athletes from all over the country,” said Page.
The Prattville senior left her mark on the flag football program. She has had a huge impact on the Lions as they made deep runs into the Class 6A-7A playoffs each of the last three years. As a senior, Page was selected 1st Team All Autauga County with 203 yards rushing, 7 rushing touchdowns, 989 yards receiving, and 9 receiving touchdowns. She had 89 total tackles on defense. Page was also selected as All-State Honorable Mention for Class 6A-7A.
Page has committed to continuing her flag football career in college at Shelton State. She hopes to transfer to a four-year school after her two years at Shelton.
“Lastly, I would just like to say, there will be moments in your life where it will feel like rock bottom. But on the other side of all the pain and sorrow, God has a bigger plan that will be so much more than you could have ever imagined as long as you trust Him,” said Page.
