The Prattville community lined up Tuesday afternoon to cheer on the Pride of Prattville Marching Band during its final sendoff parade rehearsal before the students depart for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where they will represent Alabama in the Salute to Independence 250th USA Celebration Parade.

The band marched multiple laps from the band field around the front parking lot at Prattville High School, simulating the approximately 2.5-mile parade route they will complete during the national celebration. The rehearsal marked the culmination of weeks of preparation as students built the endurance needed for one of the largest patriotic parades in the country.

Families, friends and community members gathered along the route to applaud the students and wish them well before their journey.

The Pride of Prattville has been invited to participate in the Salute to Independence 250th USA Celebration Parade on July 3, one of the signature events commemorating America’s 250th anniversary.

Tuesday’s sendoff highlighted not only the band’s months of dedication and hard work, but also the strong community support behind the students as they prepare to represent Prattville on a national stage during America’s 250th anniversary celebration.
