From: District Attorney CJ Robinson
19th Judicial Circuit of Alabama
In Chilton County, a jury has found 33-year-old Charles Davis guilty of two counts of Sodomy in the first degree. Davis was convicted of sodomizing a young girl, who was six at the time, and for the sodomy of a young boy, which took place over a two-year span, and began when the boy was seven years old.
Prosecutors for the State were able to call an additional witness who testified that the defendant had sexually abused her from the time she was nine until she was eleven years old.
District Attorney CJ Robinson said, “This man is another disgusting individual who preyed multiple times on vulnerable children and he had to be stopped. We put on testimony of three separate children that he sexually abused. I am not convinced they are the only ones he victimized… but I know that because of the bravery of these victims to tell their story alongside the dedicated individuals of the Jemison Police Department, Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center, and our awesome team the DA’s Office, he will never have the chance to touch another child. I feel confident the children he abused have now have the structure and support around them to break the cycle of abuse that we often see repeat itself over and over.
The case came to light when the young girl in this case was willing to disclose her abuse to a counselor at school and the counselor, as a mandated reporter, contacted DHR which in turn contacted law enforcement. This is a perfect example of the system working as it should to protect those who cannot protect themselves, and I am grateful for the relationships and collaboration we have in this county when it comes to protecting children.”
Charles Davis is set for sentencing at the Chilton County Courthouse before Circuit Judge Joy Booth on April 8, 2026.
