Prattville Mayor Bill Gillespie responds to concerns about a brief medical episode on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, following the city council meeting.
First responders from the Prattville Fire Department transported Gillespie to the hospital where he underwent a procedure the next morning. Gillespie responded to public concern with a Facebook post that reads as follows:
“Hello Prattville!! I want to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone for the prayers, messages, and well wishes during the past couple of days. They truly meant more to me than you know. Tuesday afternoon I wasn’t feeling well and experienced some chest pressure and indigestion. Out of an abundance of caution, our outstanding Prattville Fire Department checked on me Tuesday evening, and I’m very grateful for their professionalism and care. I had a medical procedure Wednesday morning, and I’m happy to report that I’m doing great and feeling much better. I’ve already been in contact with several department heads and elected officials, and things are moving right along. Dog and I will have some new Prattville videos coming out this weekend, and I hope to see many of you out walking, getting some fresh air, and enjoying a little exercise.”
Gillespie is now recovering and expected to return to his usual schedule. The city continues to operate as normal, and the incident has highlighted the readiness and professionalism of Prattville’s first responders.
