Jason Wallace is returning as the Head Football Coach at Marbury High School. Wallace coached the Bulldogs for two seasons in 2019 and 2020. In both seasons, the Bulldogs had a winning record at 6-5 and advanced to the playoffs. Wallace expressed excitement about his return to the Marbury football program.
“I’m super excited to be back home at Marbury High School,” said Wallace. “This is my second stint here as the Head football coach, and to be back involved with this community means a lot to me and my family.”
During his first stint leading the Bulldogs, they were coming off a winless season in 2018. But in his first game as head coach, Marbury defeated Montevallo 48-14. Wallace cited that as one of his favorite memories from his time at Marbury.
“Best coaching experience was actually 2019, my first year at Marbury as the Head coach, when our team here at Marbury won the 1st game of the season. The team had came off of an 0-10 season the previous year, and looking at all of the hard work we that we did in the off season, and being able to start off strong was amazing for us.”
The Marbury football team has not had a winning record since Wallace’s last season in 2020. He believes that his experience with the community, the program, and the players, will put him in an advantageous position to be successful in 2026.
“My prior experience at MHS will help me out tremendously. I understand the lay of the land, I understand that this community is a genuine, tight knit community that loves Marbury, loves the kids, and they will go above and beyond to help them have success. Truly a community that gets behind the kids and they want them all to succeed. Our current players are guys who want to be the best they can be. They work extremely hard day in and day out. I’ve been able to be around them for almost a year now, and the chemistry that they are building is definitely what you will want to see from a team.”
Wallace already has a team goal in mind for his first season: reaching the post-season. “Day 1 goals, we spoke about building this program better than its ever been done. We haven’t had an opportunity to reach a playoff game in a few years here, so being able to have an opportunity to do that is always one of the goals that we have. Our guys are understanding that we have to start somewhere before we go to the places we want to go,” said Wallace.
