The Prattville Industrial Development Board convened, Jan. 15, 2026, at the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce for their regular meeting, which included discussion of rumors about a new Prattville High School being built on the Central Alabama Community College (CACC) campus.

“There are probably lots of conversations happening, but I don’t know anything about it being officially in the works,” said CACC Dean of Academic Programs Brandy Mitchell.

Rumors began circulating after a Prattville Chamber luncheon on Dec. 17, 2025, at which Superintendent Lyman Woodfin shared updates on Autauga County Schools and outlined a vision for a new high school located at CACC.

“If there is a world where we can build a new Prattville High School on CACC’s campus, that would be awesome,” Woodfin said at the luncheon. “Now, let me say this… there is not an agreement in place. I have to secure funding before an agreement can even be talked about.”

The concept, Woodfin said, would give students greater access to dual-enrollment opportunities, creating a world in which students can easily graduate with a high school diploma and a two-year degree on the same night. He added that the plan would not affect the career tech school but could instead expand the program. Under the proposal, the current high school campus would continue to be used for lower grade levels.

Woodfin also stressed that his goal is to avoid using city or county funds but to pursue funding at the state and federal levels. Kyle Glover, District 5 representative for the Autauga County Board of Education, reiterated that strategy during the industrial development board meeting.

“Funding is being sought, but nothing has been papered yet,” said Glover. “I feel like, if the funding became available, that would be priority number one and location number one because it would be a game changer, creating a model of what education could be in the State of Alabama.”
