During last night’s Elmore County Board of Education meeting, the district recognized its Teacher of the Year recipients, including the overall Elementary and Secondary honorees. A reception was also held to celebrate awardees from the Elmore County Child Nutrition Department.

Kimberly K. Howard of Coosada Elementary School was named the overall Elmore County Elementary Teacher of the Year and Diana Frazier of Wetumpka Middle School received the distinction of overall Secondary Teacher of the Year.

“I am extremely proud and thankful to each and every one of our teachers, they have done an exceptional job representing their schools and our overall winners. I am excited for you to go and compete at the state level,” said Superintendent Richard Dennis.

Each year, every school selects a teacher of the year to represent their campus. Elementary Teachers are classified as K-6th, and Secondary teachers are classified as 7-12th. Middle schools select two teachers each year.
