Toxey Dorsett, a student at Prattville Primary School (PPS), earned himself and two guests tickets to the 2025 Iron Bowl, Nov. 18, 2025, after winning the Alabama Education Association’s (AEA’s) 12th annual Be A Champion and Read contest.

The statewide program promotes reading by challenging kindergarten through sixth-grade students to complete at least six age-appropriate books during the fall semester. Thousands of students participate each year, but only one Auburn fan and one Alabama fan are ultimately drawn as winners.

β€œThis is the first-ever winner from PPSβ€”and even from Autauga Countyβ€”so we are just incredibly excited for Toxey and proud of his passion for reading,” said Joseph Cochran, Principal at PPS.

Dorsett’s parents said he struggled with reading last year, but consistent nightly reading together has helped him grow more confident. His progress was what led him to this year’s achievement.

β€œI really like sharks, so I read a lot of books about them,” said Dorsett. β€œI wanted to go see Auburn because they’re my favorite team.”

In addition to attending the Iron Bowl, Dorsett will take part in exclusive pregame activities, including going down to the sidelines with the players and being honored during a special recognition for contest winners. Dorsett has chosen his mom and brother to join him at the game.
