The local community gathered, Nov. 12, 2025, at the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce for a proclamation ceremony honoring Military Appreciation Week.
Military Appreciation Week recognizes local service members, their sacrifices, and their efforts to protect our country. Many military families live in Prattville and deserve more than a simple thank you. It is not just about the sacrifice of service members but also that of their family members.
This morning’s ceremony was full of heartfelt appreciation and recognition for those veterans and active service members. Mr. Joe Turner, a veteran and member of the Military Affairs Committee, led a beautiful invocation to start the ceremony.
Mayor Bill Gillespie gave the first proclamation, proudly announcing, “Prattville would not be Prattville of today if it had not been for the military and veterans’ presence today.”
Autauga County Commission’s Bill Tatum also presented a proclamation in honor of Military Appreciation Week. Billingsley Mayor David Hansen followed, thanking everyone in attendance and giving another proclamation.
In closing, Pine Level Mayor Zachary Bigley addressed those in attendance, saying, “As long as I am mayor, the military is going to be honored in the Town of Pine Level.”
For Military Appreciation Week, Nov. 10-14, 2025, local businesses are providing discounts of services and goods for active and retired service members. From local restaurants and coffee shops to auto detailing and retail, this week-long shoutout allows the community to give back to those who have served.
