After graduating from Holtville High School, Weston Tubbs signed with Central Alabama Community College in 2023. In his freshman season, CACC was the runner-up in the state tournament.  As a sophomore, Tubbs played in 44 games and started 42 games for a CACC team that went 35-24 and advanced to the 2025 Alabama Community College Conference Division II baseball tournament. Tubbs averaged .359, had 22 RBIs, scored 37 runs, 23 walks, and hit one home run in a game at Bevill State.

“My time at CACC was awesome and I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” said Tubbs. “Getting those two years to figure out myself and life alongside guys I will forever call brothers. My time at CACC taught me so much about life and just being responsible for myself.”

The Holtville graduate visited the campus of the University of Mobile in the Spring of 2025 prior to committing to continue his collegiate career there. Several coaches had an influence in Tubbs’ decision.

“My JUCO coach at CACC, Larry Thomas, aka: LT, guided me in the recruiting process and told me what kind of questions to ask and what to look for. The coaches at the University of Mobile played a big role, too. Head Coach Kyle Friday and assistant coach JC talked with me for a long time on my visit and ran me through some workouts. I just loved everything they had to say and everything they showed me. They are doing a great job with the program here, and I just felt like it was the place for me,” said Tubbs.

The University of Mobile Rams went 28-24 in the 2025 season. Tubbs is hoping to help the team achieve more next season. “My number one goal is to win our conference and go on to regionals. I don’t care if I have 1 at bat or 200 at bats, all I care about is winning games. Personally, though, my goal is to be a leader on this team, hit lead off, and start every game. I can’t wait for the season to start to get started on achieving some of these goals.”

Now living in Mobile, Tubbs has only made it home to Holtville once recently. “Success always requires a little bit of sacrifice. I’m surrounded by some great guys and great coaches, so I rarely think about home,” said Tubbs.

In preparation for the 2026 season, the Rams practice every day and have weekends off, with lifting sessions on Tuesday and Thursday and mental toughness days on Friday morning.

“We have been getting after it in the gym and at practice. I’ll use my Monday and Wednesday to do my own workouts and then go hit before getting ready for practices.”

Tubbs is majoring in Business Management and hopes to find a job as a project manager following college.
