The Second Annual Farm City Festival brought families and neighbors together at the City of Wetumpka’s Farmers Market for a day of fun, food, and community spirit on Oct. 7, 2025.

Hosted by the Farm City Committee in partnership with the Elmore County Extension Office and the Elmore County Farmers Federation, the free event celebrated the vital connection between local agriculture and the community it serves. This event celebrates the connection between rural and urban communities and the role agriculture plays in everyday life.

“This was a fun family event celebrating the importance of agriculture in our lives and to educate the children and adults alike about agriculture, careers, and opportunities for the future,” said Elmore County Extension Director Katrina Mitchell.

Attendees enjoyed agriculture exhibits, along with games, live animals, a photo booth, face painting, coloring contests, door prizes, educational stations, and free food. Children were dressed up in fun, creative costumes to win big prizes in the costume contest.

The community also had the chance to donate canned goods to the Elmore County Food Pantry, giving back while enjoying an evening of family fun.

If you missed it this year, this event will be held again on the first Tuesday of October each year.
