The Prattville Police Department and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences (ADSF) are investigating a man’s death after a fisherman finds his body, Sept. 19, 2025, floating in the Alabama River.

The body was discovered around 9 a.m. near the railroad trestle by the U.S. Highway 31 bridge on the Autauga County side, according to Mark Thompson, Chief of Prattville Police.

Prattville firefighters recovered the man’s body and turned it over to ADFS for identification.

“At this time, based on everything we have found, we do not think there was any foul play involved,” said Thompson.
