The City of Prattville announced Owens Corning as its new economic development project, Sept. 19, 2025, at the Marriott Prattville Conference Center at Capitol Hill.

Community leaders, economic development officials, and Owens Corning executives gathered to celebrate what many called a “game-changing” investment for the region.

“Owens Corning is building a 250 thousand square foot, state-of-the-art asphalt and roofing facility in Prattville South Industrial Park,” said Steve Cowan, General Manager of Asphalt for Owens Corning. “This will be our first greenfield-built facility ever for a shingles plant, employing about 100 people.”

Founded in 1935, Owens Corning serves industries worldwide, from construction to renewable energy, and is well known for its Pink Panther branding, introduced in 1980 with the launch of its PINK® Fiberglas™ insulation.

Amy Hillard, Director of Economic Development for Prattville, praised the collaboration that made the deal possible, crediting the joint efforts of Prattville and Autauga County’s development teams along with the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce.

“We could not be prouder to introduce this economic project today,” said Hillard. “Economic development is a team sport, and I hope that is evident today.”

Bill Gillespie, Mayor of Prattville, presented company leaders with a historic Prattville clock to display in their new facility, calling the announcement a milestone moment.

“This is a great day for our community, and I guarantee we will look pretty in pink,” said Gillespie.

The facility marks a significant step forward in Prattville’s efforts to attract global companies, bringing new jobs and investment while bolstering the city’s industrial base.
