U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R–Ala.) has been named Crime Stopper of the Year by Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama, in recognition of her steadfast commitment to public safety, law enforcement support, and decisive legislative action.
The award was presented at the organization’s annual Crime Stopper of the Year Luncheon on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at The Finley Center in Hoover, Alabama. Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato introduced Senator Britt during the ceremony, which spotlighted individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership in the fight against crime and embodied Crime Stoppers’ mission of creating safer communities.
“When considering individuals in the state of Alabama who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to supporting law enforcement, one name consistently rises to the forefront: Senator Britt,” said Crime Stoppers Board Chairman Frank Barefield. “We could not think of anyone better in the state of Alabama to receive this award. She has worked tirelessly to support the needs of law enforcement.”
Senator Britt’s efforts have been comprehensive, ranging from advocating for increased funding for police departments to championing legislation that enhances officer safety and provides crucial resources for training and equipment.
Senator Britt earned this distinction for her leadership in enacting the Laken Riley Act, bolstering funding for Alabama law enforcement, and advocating for key public safety priorities.
“Her tireless advocacy has fostered a stronger, more secure environment for both officers on the front lines and the communities they serve,” said Barefield. “Throughout her tenure, Senator Britt has consistently prioritized the well-being and operational effectiveness of law enforcement agencies across Alabama, understanding that their ability to maintain public safety directly impacts every citizen.”
The Laken Riley Act—the first bill signed into law by President Trump as the 47th President—marks the most significant immigration enforcement legislation enacted since 1996, and it garnered bipartisan support.
Additionally, Senator Britt recently secured $14.4 million in critical funding for local law enforcement across Alabama. As Chair of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security, she remains dedicated to supporting national safety initiatives and enhancing public security infrastructure.
