In 2026, our country will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Old Autauga Historical Society is hosting some special local events to celebrate this special occasion. Our biggest event will be a special venue, Chronicle of America, which will be held April 9-11, 2026 at the Doster Center in Prattville. The venue will include 250 displays depicting 250 years of US History (1776-2026). The venue covers many subjects including history, religion, science, literature, art, music, agriculture, movies, toys, etc. The exhibit will be one of a kind, and will include US history, Alabama history, and local history.
We will be holding special school day events on April 9-10, 2026, from 9 AM-4 PM. We will have 2,000 slots reserved for area students from Autauga and Elmore Counties. These include both public and private schools. We are currently reaching out to all area schools to let them know about the upcoming event as most schools require approval of field trips at the beginning of the school year. Please feel free to share this event with any and all schools in the area! We need to get the word out now.

The venue will be open to the general public from 3 PM till closing on April 9-10, and all day Saturday, April 11. Mark your calendars and plan to come to Prattville in April and take a walk down memory lane!

USA250 – The Chronicle of America venue is sponsored by the Old Autauga Historical Society (OAHS). The venue includes 250 trifold displays depicting 250 years (1776-2026) of United States History. This is not just a venue on local history but a venue on U.S. HISTORY. We have gone to great lengths to include Alabama related subjects and individuals as well. The venue covers the founding history of our country but also includes highlights from military, arts, science, music, drama, clothing, food, farming, technology, etc., from each decade from our nation’s founding forward to present time. Come walk down memory lane with us!

Below is the registration form for school groups to attend this special event which chronicles the 250-year history of the United States. The event is FREE and open to all
student groups, both public and private schools, based on availability. There are 2,000 student slots available. Per fire codes, we can have no more than 450 people in the venue at any given time, this includes students, staff, parents, and OAHS volunteers.
We will have five (5) waves available for school groups. We hope you and your school will decide to participate in this once in a lifetime event! Larry E. Caver, President
