In a beautiful and honoring ceremony, the City of Millbrook and The Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a well-attended Memorial Day Observance this morning.
The program opened with a welcome from First Sergeant Bill Roberts, U.S. Army, Retired, who introduced Mayor Al Kelley, City Council members, and the citizens of Millbrook in attendance.
The observance began with an invocation delivered by Rev. Dr. Tyler Cox of Millbrook United Methodist Church, setting a solemn and respectful tone for the morning. Following the prayer, Trail Life Troop 125 proudly led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance, a moment that was both heartfelt and unifying.
Jim Brumbeloe moved the audience with a stirring rendition of the National Anthem, setting the stage for the Memorial Day Proclamation, delivered by Mayor Al Kelley.
A presentation of the Missing Man Table followed, led by a student from Stanhope Elmore High School, symbolizing the sacrifice of those who never returned home.
The ceremony concluded with the Laying of the Wreath, conducted with reverence by Mayor Kelley and Rev. Dr. Brannon Bowman of Millbrook Presbyterian Church. Clarence McMillan then performed “Taps,” allowing a solemn moment of silence to honor the fallen.
This Memorial Day observance was a moving tribute, marked by prayer, patriotism, and remembrance. May we always honor those who served and never forget the courage, grit, and bravery of the men and women who gave their all for our freedom.
