A celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr will be held Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, at 6 p.m. at Central Alabama Community College.
The community celebration, Remembering the History, Continuing the Legacy, Honoring the Dream, is a FREE event and open to the public.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Viola Bradford. Live music is offered by Felicia and Soul Creation.
From the Marlon and Marcus Foundation: “This event will pay tribute to the enduring legacy of Dr. King, as well as the pioneering efforts of local civil rights activists and advocates, the late Mrs. Sallie Mae Hadnott and Mr. Dan Houser. Their relentless and courageous deeds in the fight against poverty and racial discrimination established a crucial foundation for justice within the local community. Their significant contributions must be both celebrated and remembered.”
As for the keynote speaker, Dr. Bradford began her writing career at the young age of 14 with the Southern Courier newspaper, which from 1965-68 focused on civil rights and social justice issues affecting marginalized communities.
A spaghetti dinner will be served at the event.
