At the Millbrook City Council meeting Tuesday morning, Mayor Al Kelley was given permission to enter into a contract with property owner Jane Elliott, in order for the city to purchase her property.

The house and land are located at 4211 Grandview Road, next door to the city’s Street Department. The purchase price for the property is $95,000 plus closing costs.

“It is the last property on Grandview on the left. There is an old house on the property. The plans are to tear the house down and to use the property for other uses, perhaps for the Street Department, or other things that we may need.”

In other business, the Council discussed recent renovations to the clubhouse at the Pines Golf Course. They approved Resolution 24-93 which authorizes funds in the amount of $12,255 for new furniture on the outside deck. The furniture will be purchased locally from Family Home Furniture of Millbrook.

“A few weeks ago, we added a big deck on the back. They had some old furniture that had probably been there 30 years. The inside of the club house needed some updating, refreshing. It needed some new flooring and paint. The golf course is now doing very well financially. These expenditures are coming out of the golf course’s money that has been made.”

The Mayor thanked Danae Morgan and other city employees who are overseeing the renovations.
