Krisi Pelkey, owner of KP Studios and Events in Millbrook is in the business of making dreams reality and turning ideas into extraordinary memories for any event. But while Pelkey is making dreams come true through the events she plans, it’s her clients that are making her ultimate dreams come true in the long run.
Pelkey opened her business a little over a year ago, taking what she learned from event planning at her previous job and running with her passion for planning and eye for detail. Pelkey and KP Studios offer various packages for on-site and off-site decorating, event planning and event coordinating which takes the stress off planning an event. From birthday parties, wedding rehearsals, gender reveals to retirement parties, KP does it all.
“I offer an hourly rate, or I offer a decoration package, which includes the hourly rate. The decoration package includes things like the tablecloth, the runner, some centerpieces, a balloon arch and just general decorations. But my favorite part is when my clients tell me a theme and let me run with it,” Pelkey said.
Pelkey can plan and coordinate everything to where her clients only have to bring the catering and drinks. However, Pelkey can also coordinate catering if that is something her clients need for her to take care of.
Pelkey also offers offsite services, where she can come to a venue and also take care of all the planning, while also making dreams come true.
The venue is located in Millbrook at 2306 Wall Street, where the fire capacity is 82, however Pelkey stated that after about 65 people, it does get a little cramped. But in the near future, Pelkey hopes to grow her venue with one of the surrounding buildings to be able to facilitate an event space that could hold over 150 people.
Pelkey stated that she has always been crafty, and always been a planner. She discovered her passion while planning events for the Prattville Country Club and realized she could be her own boss and take her passion to a much bigger scale.
“Some people see it as a downfall, but I always have a plan. I don’t just stop at plan B, I usually have it all the way down to like plan D or even F,” Pelkey said with a laugh.
When asked, Pelkey stated that her favorite event that she had planned so far was her mother’s 70th birthday. Where the venue was elegant, and everything came together perfectly for an unforgettable party.
“Oh, it was beautiful. Yellow roses and casa blanca lilies. The place smells amazing. It was all gold and emerald green. Her cake was phenomenal. The food was phenomenal. The decoration was just a dream,” Pelkey said.
Recently Pelkey has joined the Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce, and as the newest member of the Chamber, a one-year ribbon cutting was hosted last Friday morning. Not only to commemorate KP Studio and Events joining the chamber, but to also commemorate the one-year anniversary of being in the business of making dreams come true. Pelkey stated that she will be hosting a Morning Brew in February next year and that she is so excited to be a member of the Chamber, to better serve her community and to have greater access to networking opportunities.
“The Chamber can help local businesses at any point in their journey and I think KP Studios have really done it right. We’re just delighted to have you in our ranks, and I can’t wait to see you get involved,” President of the Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce, Brenda Dennis said at the ribbon cutting.
