Copeland completed 13 years of school last year and “graduated” with the group of students with whom he had spent 12 years.
Due to his disabilities he is allowed to attend public school until the age of 21. This year he returned to Marbury High School (he says he is working there).
Last night at Marbury High School was an unforgettable day as our medically fragile special needs young man and his class (the Bulldog Squad) led the football team onto the field! The sheer joy on his face was priceless, and he absolutely loved every moment. He was hesitant to do it at first but afterwards told us that it was amazing!
A HUGE thank you to everyone who made this possible, allowing Cope the opportunity to experience something typical students do. As a mom who doesn’t often get emotional, I found myself in tears watching my son shine on that field. Bulldogs you may not have gotten the W on the scoreboard but you showed many people what it looks like to love others, accept others and to me that’s the biggest WIN of all!!!!
Your love and support mean the world to us. As it says in 1 John 4:19, “We love because He first loved us.” Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus in our lives!
A huge thank you to Micah with Hometown Heathcare for helping Cope get a power chair… this chair had given him some freedom. However, we might need to slow it down just a little.
Also a great big thank you to everyone that sent us video and pictures! We love our TEAMCOPE!!!
Copeland’s mom, Meg Spires confirmed that this event included the entire Marbury High School’s AAA self-contained special education class. The class or as students know them as The Bulldog Squad helped to lead the football team onto the field under the Friday night lights last week.
Angels Among Us is a separate organization that welcomes any child or adult with special needs.
