From CJ Robinson
District Attorney – 19th Circuit
Byron Anderson was convicted by an Autauga County jury last month of 12 counts of Sodomy 1st and two counts of Sex Abuse of Child Less than 12. Today, he was sentenced by Judge Amanda Baxley to a total of 390 years in prison. The victim in the case was a seven-year-old girl who initially disclosed to her mom what Anderson, her stepdad, had done to her.
Anderson was arrested in 2021 after the victim told her mother what happened.
The mom confronted the defendant in a recorded phone call and the defendant confessed to abusing the victim. The Autauga County Sheriff’s Office was contacted, completed the investigation, and we prosecuted the case.
I am very proud of the courage of this young woman to speak up. She is a hero and because of her another predator is off the streets! This is another case where great teamwork and communication between various agencies resulted in another conviction and sentence that helps protect us all.
