A now former Holtville Middle School janitor is in custody, and a School Resource Officer and administration are much appreciated for quick action, officials say.
George Rolle, 29, of Montgomery was taken into custody Aug. 9 at the school and then booked into the Elmore County Jail on multiple charges. These include Possession of a Deadly Weapon on School Grounds, Receiving Stolen Property 2nd Degree, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His cash bond is set at $42,000.
According to Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin Rolle was a janitor at the school. A School Resource Officer approached Rolle after the officer received information about suspicious activity.
Sheriff’s office investigators recovered a stolen .380 semi-automatic handgun found on Rolle, according to Sheriff Franklin. He was also found in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
The gun was found to be stolen and is connected to a 2018 burglary in Tallassee. In that incident, the burglary investigation was handled by the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office as well.
Elmore County Schools Superintendent issued the following statement regarding the arrest:
“A contract employee that supports Holtville Middle School was arrested after being suspected of possession of an illegal substance. The individual is not an employee of the Elmore County Board of Education and will not be allowed on Elmore County Board of Education property. The school administration handled the situation when notified, and the school resource officer removed the individual from campus,” Dennis said in a statement to the EAN. He said those involved jumped into action quickly and resolved the issue without further problems.
