Case: PPD24-08062024-A
The Prattville Police Department continues to seek answers in an ongoing 2023 homicide investigation of a 16-year-old.
On August 6, 2023, at about 2:00 pm, the Prattville Police Department responded to the 600 block of Covered Bridge Parkway in reference to a subject shot. Upon arrival, police and medics located a male subject lying in the roadway who sustained a gunshot wound. First responders immediately began rendering aid to the victim, unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. The victim was identified as Kylen Smith, 16.
Investigators say a witness on the scene stated a male was observed leaving the scene in all black, wearing a black hoodie. Evidence collected has led Investigators to believe that the suspect was on foot at the time shooting and not in a vehicle. Investigators believe this was not just a random violent act and it is believed the victim may have known or been associated with the shooter before the homicide.
The victim’s family is heartbroken as they approach an entire year without their loved one. They are seeking answers and ask for anyone with information to please come forward.
