Life is better by the pool, and while a pool party can’t solve the “back to school blues,” it can guarantee a splash-tastic time this Saturday at the Pratt Pool.

This Saturday, July 27th is the place to be from 6-9 p.m. to celebrate summer one last time before school starts with the Back-to-School Pool Party hosted by the Prattville Parks and Recreation Department.

“We know going back to school signifies summer being almost over, and we just aren’t ready for that yet! We want to do something fun with the kids in our community before they get back into their routine for school,” Parks and Recreation Director, Kellie Cook said.

Entry will be $1 per person and three and under are free but must wear a swim diaper even if they are potty trained. Coolers with food and drinks may be brought in. However, no glass or alcohol is allowed and coolers as well as large bags will be checked at the gate, according to a Prattville Parks and Recreation Facebook post.

“Summertime is always a time for kids to enjoy the pool and we want to make sure they have a fun experience before we have to shut the pool down for the season. Having a nighttime swim with friends and a DJ seems like a great way to spend one of the last weekends before school starts back and everyone gets back into their busy schedules,” Cook said.

Making waves, big splashes and making memories is what a pool party is all about. Food trucks will be on the premises for purchase, and a D.J will also be pool side, Cook confirms.

“Even though summer is winding down, we still have plenty of things for families to do outdoors to enjoy everything Prattville has to offer,” Cook said.

While students only have about a week left of summer, as they go back August 7th, the summer fun and events don’t slowdown in the fountain city.

Cook stated there’s still a Creekwalk Concert at Spillway Park on July 30th, starting at 6:30 p.m. The Summer Creekwalk Concert Series is free to the public and this last concert will feature the Alex Walker Band.

Cook also confirmed that the Prattville Farmers Market operates Saturdays through August from 7 a.m. to noon, and the splashpad in Prattville stays open through the month of September.

While summer may be ending for students, there’s always a seasonal event to enjoy within the City of Prattville.
