While the Wetumpka Police Department awaits findings from an autopsy regarding a death in the parking lot of Alabama’s Little Bit of Texas Saturday morning, a Celebration of Life has been announced for the deceased.
Christopher Teeter, 50, of Hope Hull had left the bar after midnight Saturday morning. While outside Teeter got into his vehicle and was leaving when there was an altercation, but details have not been officially released from investigators.
What is known is that emergency calls were made for medical help, as Teeter was unresponsive on the ground.
Several people have been questioned, according to Wetumpka Police Chief Benton, no arrests have been made at this time. The department is working with the District Attorney’s Office, as they await results concerning Teeter’s cause of death. Teeter sustained a head injury during the altercation.
He was transported to an area hospital via ambulance, but later pronounced deceased.
Once the findings from the autopsy are obtained, it is possible charges could be forthcoming, or the case would be sent to a future Elmore County Grand Jury, Benton said.
We have reached out to the club’s owner, and were referred to their attorney of record. We also reached out to the attorney and will update this article if we receive a response.
In a statement posted on the nightclub’s public Facebook page it says that the club’s owner has turned over video surveillance evidence to the proper authorities from 64 cameras. They are cooperating fully with investigators.
The full, unedited statement posted on their Facebook page is as follows:
“Post by Owner
It is with deep sadness that I find myself having to post this !
What you haters Do Not know!
Chris was a dear friend of mine for over 20 years !
I ran out of money 3 time’s building Little Bit of Texas
Covid shut us down in our third year of construction and we were not able to open ! I Struggled through another year selling everything I had to keep the dream going !
I either sold , or pawned my guitar collection and everything musical in my possession! Chris Teeter was instrumental in helping me turn theses into money not a few hundred dollars but literally thousands!
And every time I called him , he helped me keep going! and believe me it was a lot!! So Chris had a stake in opening this venue! There were others too That I will not mention but they know my appreciation and love I have for them! When Nobody believed this was possible Chris was always there to help me! I cannot nor could I ever repay what this man has done for me!”
With that said, We have full confidence in the Wetumpka Police Department , The Sheriffs Dept And all the investigators working on this!
We will NOT comment on the status of this investigation and we will FULLY cooperate with them!
All cameras (64 of them ) were working perfectly and video was turned over! The truth will be forthcoming !
Our prayers are with his Family and friends
Rest In Peace my Dear Friend!
We will Miss you Every Day!
Freddy”
A Celebration of Life for Chris Teeter will be held on Saturday Jan 21st at 3 pm at Southern Baptist Church on Wasden Road in Hope Hull.
