Way Off Broadway Theatre (WOBT), a program of the City of Prattville’s Parks and Recreation Department, is proud to present Godspell, opening today, July 9 and running through July 26, 2026.
Directed by James Henry, with music direction by Dr. Patrick McCormick and choreography by Grayson Elijah of Studio 1-Eleven Dance Studio, Godspell is a vibrant, high-energy musical that brings the parables of Jesus to life through song, storytelling, and ensemble-driven performance. Featuring a beloved score by Stephen Schwartz (composer of Wicked and Pippin), the show blends humor, heart, and powerful messages of kindness, connection, and community.
“This show is pure joy,” said Martha Wilkinson, Theatre Coordinator for Way Off Broadway Theatre. “At its core, Godspell is about people coming together, lifting each other up, and finding light in one another. It’s playful, meaningful, and exactly the kind of shared experience that brings a community closer.”
The production features a talented local cast including Chace Harris as Jesus and Delano Williams as John the Baptist/Judas, along with Magdalene Dyson, Natali Jimenez, Ashlee Lassiter Davis, Ash Shanks, Jessica Scott, Dakota Fowler, Micah Posey, and Mark Sanders.
Audiences can expect an engaging, contemporary take on this classic musical, with dynamic performances filled with music, movement, laughter, and moments that will both uplift and inspire.
Performances will take place at Way Off Broadway Theatre in Prattville. Evening performances begin at 7:00 PM, with Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $14 and can be purchased online at prattvilleal.gov. Group rates are available for parties of 12 or more.
