The Elmore County Board of Education has received criticism regarding communication during the recent threats made towards our schools. It is important to us to share information in a timely manner and would like to be certain that all our stakeholders are receiving the information shared. We are sometimes unable to immediately share communications, but we share it as soon as possible so parents are informed. We want to clarify the ways we communicated during the recent events and be clear how we will communicate moving forward. Please be certain to join REMIND since that is how we will communicate any emergency information. We may post information on Facebook, share it with local media outlets, send a call out, or send in an email AND we will always communicate emergency matters through REMIND.
On Sunday, September 8, 2024, we were made aware of a social media threat to our schools around 10:45 PM. We began working with law enforcement immediately and crafted a statement with the information we had that went out at 11:35 PM. We will not communicate with call outs that late in the evening, but we sent the message using the following communication tools:

Law Enforcement continued to work late into the night to investigate the threat and Mr. Dennis was updated by them and sent another Remind message to parents at 6:00 AM stating that we would be on a regular school schedule for the day. This message was sent on Remind to the code @ecboeinfo at 6:00 AM Monday, September 9, 2024.

The Elmore County Leadership Team talked with law enforcement for an update Monday morning, September 9, 2024, and sent an updated statement to parents that morning at 9:38 AM. That message was sent using the following communication tools:
