ELMORE AUTAUGA NEWS
Cody Sloan of Autauga County is not yet 30, but he is facing one of the biggest battles of his life.
After a recent cancer diagnosis, the young man’s friends, family and even perfect strangers are coming together for an event Saturday, July 13, to raise funds for his medical expenses.
We talked with his father, Joe, and learned that Cody is undergoing treatment currently at MD Anderson Cancer Center, and so far, the news is favorable. Joe has worked at International Paper for 30 years and said the response from the IP community has been overwhelming. Cody is employed by James Hardie.
On July 13 the American Legion in Prattville will host a ride in Cody’s honor. Registration begins at the Legion (next to the football stadium) at 9 a.m. The address is 498 Doster Road.
Kick stands go up at 10:30 a.m. with a ride to Niffer’s Place at Lake Martin. There will be a stop or two in between.
At Niffer’s Place there will be a 50/50 raffle.
A donation of $10 per rider is noted.
All proceeds go to Cody and his family.
The ride will end at Big Star Tavern in Prattville. Mike and Ashley Moore, owners of Big Star, are also taking donations for a silent auction, with all proceeds to benefit Cody and his family. If you are interested in making a donation, please get in touch with either of them for more information.
All vehicles are welcome. If you plan to participate, please contact Rock at (205) 990-9407.
A rain date has been scheduled, if necessary, for July 20.
