The following is a letter that has been sent out to area churches. If your church did not receive this letter, please know you are invited to take part. Contact information is included below.
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We are organizing a community revival. Our vision is to unite the Body of Christ for one day to bring change, hope, and more unity to our communities and the Body of Christ. As we do this, we hope to bring more people into the family of God, and for those who are Christian but do not have a church home to serve in, to maybe find a church home.
Matthew 28:18-20 “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
The darkness in this world thinks that the Body of Christ has lost our saltiness, that we hide our light in our churches, that the Body of Christ is so divided that we can do little to stop the evil in our world.
Even if some of this were true, our God can make dry bones live again. We believe God is looking to see what the Body of Christ is going to do in this age; and we believe that the Body of Christ must be united and stand strong for the truth God has given to us in his word. Then when the Body of Christ starts to work as one and repent of its sin, God will send us true revival.
The devil knows his time is up and he is on a rampage. He even tried to take out the churches with COVID 19. Many say “What can we do about it?” What we are called to do about it! Worship our God together as one! We are His light in this dark world! So, let us shine brightly and glorify our God together as one.
When was the last revival you remember or attended? Right! It has been a while, hasn’t it? Many of the younger generation do not even know what a revival is, they have never seen or been to one.
The “Back to the Basics Elmore Community Revival” will be held July 23 from 9am to 9pm at the Lake Martin Amphitheater, and you and your church are invited. We have seven, thirty-minute, time slots available for our community church pastors to preach in. The sermon must be on the Gospel, or the End Times. We do not want any sermon that tries to explain the differences in theology or promote one over another, such as Arminianism, Calvinism, Reformist, or Dispensationalism.
Just stick to what we all agree on: Jesus is the Son of God, Jesus lived a sinless life, Jesus died and rose again, Jesus is our Passover Lamb, we are made righteous by Jesus’ sacrifice, we all have sinned and will be judged, only those who ask Jesus to be their Lord will be forgiven of their sin and live for eternity with God in heaven. If you feel that you cannot, in good conscious, preach within these confines we understand.
There are other ways that your church can help make this revival a success:
• We are also going to need pastors and volunteers to minister to the people who are making a decision for Christ or need prayer. There will be 12 one hour shifts for this ministry.
• We will be asking the pastors who will be preaching if their praise team would like to take the 20 minute slot before they preach. If their praise teams choose not to, we will need groups to fill in the slots. We have 8 (20 minute) slots for music.
• We will need volunteers to help hand out programs, help with directing the public to the right areas, set up and take down of equipment, clean up, and maybe help parking as well. There may be other areas that we need volunteers as we get closer to the revival.
• We might need to borrow equipment such as portable sound system and speakers, tents for prayer and decision area, chairs, tables, instruments, and microphones.
If you church is planning to take part in some way to make this revival happen, please send a picture of your church or pastor and address for your church. We will display them in the prayer/decision area for people to see what churches they can go to in this area. We also need for all of us to pray for the community to be receptive to hear God’s call and the protection of all things related to this revival and join in praising and glorifying God for what He is doing!
One last thing, we will not be taking up any type of offerings or money at the revival, or selling anyone’s merchandise (such as books, devotions, music, cd’s, or crafts). If people feel led to give money at the revival, we will ask them to take the offering to one of the local churches we have posted in the prayer/decision area.
If we have left out a church that you know about in the Elmore County area, please feel free to copy this letter and give to them. We are very excited about this community revival because we can do far better to share the gospel working together then we ever can on our own! This will be a chance to show the community and world God’s glory through our unity and ability to work together for the spreading of the gospel!
