Tuesday night nine Millbrook Police officers were promoted during the Millbrook City Council meeting with family and friends present.
Newly promoted officers include: Kevin S. Liles to Lieutenant; Jason Brosius to Detective Lieutenant; Jacob Williams to Sergeant; Christopher VanHouten to Sergeant; Elbert Rankins to Sergeant; Alexander Webb to Corporal; Sean Brosius to Corporal; Kristen Godwin to Corporal; and Shonaye Wright to Detective.
Chief P.K. Johnson thanked Mayor AL Kelley for graciously approving these officers promotions during the meeting. Johnson said, “Each and every one of these people that we are about to bring up, has done an outstanding job and continues to do an outstanding job. This is the leadership of our police department and the future of our police department.”
He then called upon each of the officers and handed them their new badge. Before the newly promoted officers left, Johnson again made sure that each officer knew how very proud he was of them doing an amazing job for the city of Millbrook.
Mayor Al Kelley said “I want to congratulate these men and women of our police department who do an outstanding job. They are out there every day and it’s tough work. I want to personally thank each and every one of them.”
After the Mayor congratulated the officers, each of the city council members personally thanked the officers that were promoted as well. City Council President Michael Gay told the crowd a story of when he moved to Millbrook and one of the first people he met was a police officer.
He said, “You guys sell Millbrook every single day. A lot of times you are the first ambassadors and the last ambassadors that we have for the city. Thank you very much for the job you. We are extremely grateful.”
Following the promotions, Chief Johnson wanted to remind everyone to come on out to the Cops and Kids Day event October 9, 2021 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Village Green Park. Johnson said, “There will be food, ice cream, and all kinds of activities for kids to enjoy, too.”
This is a FREE event. Bring the children enjoy this fun, and FREE event. Police, Fire, and the Sanitation trucks will be on site for the kids to explore as well. There will be displays and demonstrations throughout the day as well.
Chief Johnson thanked the many sponsors of the event, including organizations, businesses and individuals.
“All of this is possible, and it remains a free event, thanks to their tremendous support. Our goal is to develop positive relationships with young people and their families. We want them to understand that we are here to help and protect them,” Johnson said.
