Way Off Broadway Theatre will offer the Shining Stars Theatre Workshop, an inclusive acting workshop designed for individuals with special needs, at its downtown Prattville location, 203 W. Fourth St.
The two-hour workshop introduces participants to imagination, character building and teamwork through theatre games and guided storytelling. Students will work together to create a short play focused on kindness, friendship and positive choices. The workshop is open to participants ages 10 and up and is limited to 10 students.
“Shining Stars is about creating a space where every participant feels seen, valued and confident,” said Martha Wilkinson, theatre coordinator at Way Off Broadway Theatre. “This workshop allows students to experience the joy of theatre in a supportive and encouraging environment.”
The workshop will be led by Brooke Brown, an educator who works extensively with children with special needs and serves as a leader in the local Penguin Project. Brown has been involved in theatre since the age of eight and brings a lifelong passion for inclusive arts education to the program.
The fee for the workshop is $25. The registration deadline is Jan. 31.
