The Old Autauga Historical Society met last week at First Baptist Church in Prattville to discuss plans for “USA250 – The Chronicles of America,” a free, three-day event scheduled for April 9–11, 2026, at Doster Center.
The event will feature more than 350 trifold displays created by local schools and community members, highlighting 250 years of U.S. history. Exhibits will showcase each decade since the nation’s founding, covering topics such as military history, arts, science, music, clothing, food, technology and more.
“We have over 1,400 students registered from schools in Autauga, Elmore, Lowndes, Butler, Montgomery, Macon and Bullock counties,” said OAHS President Larry Caver. “We have fewer than 600 spots remaining and continue to receive reservations each week.”
OAHS is also seeking more than 20 volunteers to assist during the three-day event and is requesting daily meals for volunteers. Community members interested in donating sandwiches, finger foods, chips, cookies or drinks are encouraged to participate.
Senior citizens will receive priority access beginning Thursday morning. Public hours will follow school hours on Thursday and Friday, with full public access on Saturday.
