The Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC) hosted its annual giving luncheon, Dec. 4, 2025, at Catfish House, gathering donations and recognizing the Heart of Alabama Food Bank (HAFB).

MACC’s Board of Directors Vice Chair, James Sanders, introduced HAFB as this year’s giving luncheon honoree, encouraging attendees to support the efforts of HAFB.

“This nonprofit demonstrates exceptional commitment, measurable results, and a deep passion for serving others,” said Sanders. “It is our privilege to recognize their contributions and to celebrate the difference they continue to make every day.”

HAFB serves more than 269,000 people across 35 Central Alabama counties, including Autauga and Elmore, working to reduce hunger through a network of programs that support families, seniors, and children.

“A lot of people don’t know what the difference is between a food bank and a food pantry,” said Michael Coleman, CEO of the Heart of Alabama Food Bank. “Every county in the U.S. is assigned to a food bank, and we contract with food pantries and affiliated food banks in our area to source and distribute nutritious food.”

Together, they form the backbone of hunger relief, with food banks coordinating and distributing resources across regions, and food pantries meeting immediate needs at the local level.

With their partnership, these organizations ensure families are consistently fed, a cause MACC and its members supported through this year’s giving luncheon.
