Local artists, Barbara Simpson, displayed her art exhibit A Little Help from My Friends, Nov. 6, 2025, at the Millbrook Art Mill.
“This exhibit is a nod to people who have meant a lot to me over the years, who have encouraged me and help me develop as an artist,” said Simpson.
Over the past two decades, Simpson’s collection has grown to include a wide variety of pieces—some created entirely on her own, others crafted by contributing artists, and many produced in collaboration with fellow creatives. Together, the collection reflects both her evolution and the supportive community that surrounds her.
Each piece tells its own story, from vibrant, abstract paintings bursting with energy to stark, representational portraits that capture the rawness of human emotion.
“My mother used to say that I was schizophrenic with my art because I would do beautiful work with lots of color and then I would go to these black and white pieces,” said Simpson.
Simpson’s exhibit offers visitors a glimpse into the many sides of her creativity—and the friendships that have inspired it. A Little Help from My Friends will remain on display throughout November at the Millbrook Art Mill, located at 3560 Grandview Road.
