Saturday, thousands of people attended the 15th annual Millbrook Boo Fest which was sponsored by the City of Millbrook and the Millbrook Cultural Arts and Special Events Department.
The Boo Festival event was held at the Village Green Park in Millbrook, Alabama. This year included a Farmers Market, Costume Contests, Pumpkin Patch, a petting zoo, Hayrides, Bike-R-Treats, a Hay Mountain, a DJ, photo ops, face painting, games, and plenty of candy given out to the children. The Millbrook Police Department and the Millbrook Fire Department had their vehicles out for the children to explore as well. Officials say this is the highest attendance in the history of Boo Fest.
Families that attended the annual event took part in all the activities the festival had to offer.
“We had a wonderful time, and we love going to this event every year,” said members of the Wright family.
They continued, “We enjoyed the pumpkin patch, hayride, games, and really loved the trick or treating with the bikers. It gave us the perfect opportunity to admire all the various kinds of motorcycles. We all ended the event with a delicious sno-cone from Kingdom Dough. It was a perfect day for a sno-cone!”
John Espy, a 9th grader attending Stanhope Elmore High School, spoke to EAN about his experience at Boo Fest. Espy’s parents are Brian and Kristy Espy.
“This was my first time ever going to the Boo Festival. I really enjoyed all the vendors, games, activities, and food. It was also a great way to spend a Saturday with my friends.”
Danae Morgan is the Millbrook Cultural Arts and Special Events Director, and she spoke to EAN about the Boo Fest event.
“Saturday’s 15th annual Boo Festival in the City of Millbrook was a tremendous success by all accounts! We were thrilled to see so many people from our community and neighboring communities here to enjoy a fun, family-friendly day.”
Morgan continued, “This is what community is all about in The City of Millbrook. We can all come together and have a beautiful day filled with bright, smiling faces. We appreciate every city department, vendors, and community partner who worked tirelessly to pull off such a huge, successful event.”
There were 50 vendors that brought food to sell, play fun games and pass out candy for the children. The DJ music was provided by Gillespie’s Entertainment. Many children and adults had fun dancing and grooving to the music. The gazebo had a scary werewolf for photo opportunties. The park also had individual characters for photo opportunities which included Spiderman, and Star War characters. There were 10 members from the Stanhope Elmore High School FBLA club that volunteered their time in helping with the children’s activities throughout the event.
