The Autauga County Bama Fans, a dedicated community of University of Alabama supporters, have announced the creation of a new scholarship in honor of CNN journalist Kaitlan Collins, a native of Prattville, Alabama, and an alumna of the university. This announcement comes just a day after Collins was named to TIME’s prestigious 100NEXT list for 2024, which highlights emerging leaders shaping the future in various fields.

The endowed scholarship will be awarded annually to a University of Alabama student pursuing a degree at the University of Alabama, reflecting Collins’ own educational background and career achievements. Collins graduated from the university in 2014 before embarking on a trailblazing career in journalism, eventually becoming one of the youngest White House correspondents in CNN history.

The Bama Fans group expressed pride in Collins’ accomplishments and highlighted how her journey inspires both aspiring journalists and the local community. “Kaitlan represents the very best of what it means to be a University of Alabama alumna,” said Autauga County Bama Fans President Tatum Northington. “Her dedication to truth, resilience in the face of challenges, and commitment to public service through journalism are qualities we want to promote in future generations.”

TIME’s 100NEXT list recognizes individuals who are shaping the future in fields like technology, business, entertainment, and politics. Collins’ inclusion underscores her influence as a rising star in media, particularly known for her tenacious political reporting and incisive interviews.

The first recipient of the Kaitlan Collins Scholarship will hopefully be selected for the 2026-2027 academic year. Applications will be open to students demonstrating academic excellence, leadership potential, and a passion for community service.

For the Autauga County community, this scholarship serves as both a celebration of Collins’ achievements and a way to inspire the next generation of leaders in media. Join us in supporting the next generation of leaders by donating to the Kaitlan Collins Emerging Leader Endowed Scholarship and helping students pursue their dreams at the University of Alabama.
