Cavender’s Boot City has put their best boots forward and officially opened their new location in Prattville. The Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting to commemorate the event Thursday morning.
The store is located near Bass Pro, and the address is 2359 Bass Pro Boulevard.
Cavender’s, originally founded by James and Pat Cavender, opened in 1965 in the small Texas town of Pittsburg. According to their website, Cavender’s started with only three styles of Tony Lama boots. Now the hard work and dedication of small-town dreams has turned into a company that has sold millions of boots nationwide and has become one of the fastest growing western wear chains in America.
General Manager of the Prattville Cavender’s location Cade Duncan confirmed that Cavender’s has just hit their 100th store mark.
“We are just incredibly honored to be here in Prattville. This is the start of a great partnership so let’s get after it,” Duncan said.
“My favorite part of this process has been the determination of my people. That’s the biggest thing. This isn’t an easy thing to start a new store and everyone on this team has been so resilient,” Duncan said.
Rusty Golden, the treasurer for the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce, was there on behalf of the Prattville Chamber. He said they send their regards and well wishes to Cavender’s as they embark on their new endeavors.
In attendance was Prattville City Councilman John Chambers, Prattville City Planner Scott Stephens, Prattville Economic Developer Amy Hilliard, Executive Assistant Lisa Byrd, SLE or Southeastern Livestock Exposition President Linwood McClain and President Elect Galen Grace, Vice President William Martin, Past President Randy Davis, SLE Executive Director Sarah Hunter, Teen Miss Rodeo Alabama 2024 Georgia Cauthen, Prattville Chamber ambassadors and members of the Prattville Community.
Duncan stated that Cavender’s is still family owned and operated even through the expansions over the years. However, Cavender’s offers more than elite boots and western wear. Duncan confirmed that anything on the Cavender’s website can be ordered. They also offer boot stretching, hat stretching, mild boot cleanings all while putting the customer first, Duncan said.
“This community has accepted us with open arms and we’re so excited to be here and start great partnerships. I moved here almost two months ago, to a place I’ve never been to, surrounded by people I don’t know with a new job. Everyone has been so accepting and we are so grateful to everyone here,” Duncan said.
