10:50 PM update:
Crews have knocked down most of the fire at this time with the exception of a few smoldering spots. Due to the large amount of fire we experienced upon our arrival, we will keep crews on scene for the next several hours to prevent rekindles. We greatly appreciate the assistance we received from the IP Emergency Response Team, the Prattville Police Department, Autauga County EMA, Autauga County Volunteer Firefighters, Autauga 911, and so many others.
Prattville Fire Department is partnering with the International Paper Prattville Mills emergency response team to suppress a fire in an outdoor paper storage area at their facility. The fire is contained, and there are no injuries. We are receiving reports of falling ash in the area surrounding the facility. The ash and fire suppression activities present no danger to anyone present on the mill site or in the community.
