The Prattville Planning Commission unanimously approved the preliminary plat for The Cottages at Prattville, a project on Highway 82 and Constitution Avenue.
The Birmingham developers, Forge Residential Partners are looking to build the “new” project, which has come before the Prattville Planning Commission and the Prattville City Council many times. This project will house roughly 192 total units as opposed to the previous project’s 234 single and multi-family homes built on 44.89 acres. This roughly equates to about five units per acre, Forge confirmed at the meeting.
At the last planning commission meeting, there was a proposed public right-of-way, or a public street that would run north to south through the subdivision, bisecting between Constitution and Coffee Exchange.
However, due to one of the conditions of the PUD, Planned Unit Development, that was approved last meeting, it had to remain a private road, Prattville city planner Scott Stephens confirmed that Forge had to reconfigure the road and now it is a private road through the project.
Stephens confirmed that there is sanitary, and sewer shown on the plat.
The vote was on the property itself, and not about the structures or any other element to the project, Prattville Mayor Bill Gillespie confirmed for the Commission and members in attendance.
The vote by the Commission was unanimously in favor of approval of the plat.
