FROM CHIEF P.K. JOHNSON
MILLBROOK POLICE DEPARTMENT
Cedrick M. Long, 30, of Millbrook is in custody for Robbery 1st Degree after being arrested on a warrant for the Millbrook Police Department.
On May 27, 2024, Millbrook police officers responded to the 300 Block of Crossings Drive with regard to a report of Domestic Violence. Upon arrival, officers encountered a 44-year-old female, who alleged that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend, who had apparently left the scene prior to law enforcement officer’s arrival. Officers attempted to make contact with the offender but were unable to locate him in the area. The victim, who had minor injuries, declined medical treatment. A report for Domestic Violence 3rd Degree was completed.
While on scene, Millbrook police officers encountered Cedrick M. Long, who they knew was wanted on an active arrest warrant for Robbery 1st Degree. The warrant was obtained by Millbrook detectives pursuant to an unrelated robbery investigation. Long had been positively identified as the alleged offender. Long was placed under arrest without incident, transported to the Millbrook Police Department for processing, and later transported to the Elmore County Jail, where he remains under no bond, pending an Aniah’s Law hearing.
This is an ongoing investigation, so there’s not a lot of information that we are not able to release at this time. That said, we’ve been actively attempting to locate Cedric Long with regard to this robbery warrant, which could possibly involve multiple victims, who have yet to come forward for whatever reason.
We are aware that this individual has a history of alleged criminal offenses, including acts of violence involving weapons, as well as attempting to elude law enforcement. Our detectives are consulting with our District Attorney’s Office to ensure that this individual remains in custody until a judge reviews the facts of the case. At that time, the judge can determine what, if any, bond amount is appropriate in this case.
It is our hope that now that the alleged offender is in custody, any other victims or witnesses that have independent knowledge of the robbery(s) or other offenses alleged to have been committed by Long, will now come forward and cooperate with law enforcement.
If a criminal act is alleged, it is necessary for victims and witnesses to play an active role in testifying against those accused, in order to achieve the successful prosecution of those committing the criminal offense.
Law enforcement stands ready to ensure justice for the victims of crime, but we need cooperation from our citizens to be successful in our mission, which is to keep our citizens safe.
